She taught in Corbin, Ky., schools for many years before coming to Nashville as a librarian at Watkins Institute. 

A native of Henry County, she was born Dec. 8, 1909, and was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Minnie Wimbish Routon.  
She had lived in Nashville for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Pemberton was educated in Henry County public schools.  She 
received a B.A. degree from Murray State Teachers College, Murray, Ky., and a B.S. in library science from George Peabody College. 
In 1937 she was married to G. Thomas Pemberton, owner of Happy Day Laundry and Dry Cleaners.  He survives.    
Mrs. Pemberton was a communicant of St. George’s Episcopal Church. 
She was a member of Hillwood Country Club, Tyne Meade Garden Club, Peabody Aid, and Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Fine Arts Center.
