Everett Routon, son of Joseph Routon and Minnie Wimbush, lived in the small community of Routon most of his life.  He was a World War I veteran, serving in France (See Routons in WWI).  After the war he returned to his home, the Routon community, and lived there the remainder of his life. 

He married Nonnie Bucy and they had two sons, Roger and John B. Roger married a local girl, Frances Hill, daughter of Carlyle Hill and Mary E. Hudson.  The Hudsons trace their ancestors back to 
Benjamin Hudson of Warren County, NC.  Roger was a farmer and ran a small grocery in Routon for several years.  He was a veteran of World War II.  He has been on the Henry County Nursing Home Board for years.  Roger’s oldest daughter, Carolyn Goodman, lives in Routon today.  She was Henry County Fairest of the Fair in early years, and Miss Henry High – a beautiful and sweet girl as are her two sisters and two daughters.  Of the three daughters, Carolyn has more of the Old Routon’s gentle ways.
